Christian Lisowski is a Medtronic employee hoping to raising awareness and funds for the Sulzbacher Center’s medical services by competing in the Marathon des Sables, also known as “the toughest footrace on earth.” Wish him well by sending him encouraging words at marathondessables.com, Christian Lisowski, bib # 544 and check-out his latest update below:
Update from Christian Lisowski:
Another tough day, but not as bad as the dunes. The heat really kicked up today near 95 degrees. This stage was mostly flat with lots of sand and rocks, then more sand, then more rocks. This stage took over 8 hrs to complete. The running is very difficult as I’m basically running in ancient dry lakes and river beds and up mountains. The topography here is similar to new mexico, rust colored dirt, and high plateaus as big canyons. I’m back at camp now trying to recover for another dune day tomorrow, then the 50 mile non-stop stage which starts Thursday.
Thank you to everyone who has sent emails. It really lifts my spirits when they get delivered to my tent-they actually print them out. Keep sending them, it means a lot.
I will send another stage update tomorrow after the stage is compete.
Thank you all again,
